Young Toddler Room.

Young Toddlers Guide Our young toddler room is a spacious area which is well lit, has both a carpeted area and wooden area and incorporates low level windows on two sides to allow children the opportunity to look out and watch the environment as it changes through the seasons and the wildlife which come to visit including our resident squirrel!!!

This room provides the most suitable environment for the transition from the baby room to the toddler room. Leaving the atmosphere of the baby room can be daunting for the young toddlers and parents alike but at Sandcastles we strive to make that transition as stress free as possible whilst allowing the child freedom to explore and make new friends and develop their concentration levels, motor and communication skills whilst still in a room with children of their own age to reduce accidents.

Enthusiastic staff establish close bonds with the children in their care, spending time with each child individually, getting to know them and how best to stimulate them so they reach their potential in the best way possible. This promotes a sense of belonging, self worth and develops confidence in each child so they can try new activities and develop their abilities.

They do this by offering activities such as water play, sand play, painting and even body painting and participate in bimonthly themes to stimulate their social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional growth. Daily opportunities for engaging in physical activities both indoor and outdoor offer a chance for children to develop their gross motor skills whilst learning to gain muscle control, and enhancing cross lateral movement. Toys and equipment have been chosen deliberately to inspire and encourage each child's learning and promotes among other things hand to eye co-ordination, concentration, reasoning and language skills, and early mathematical and scientific concepts.

A quiet area within the room equipped with blankets, cushions, child level sofa and chairs, teddies and books for those times when all a child wants to do is chill out is always available. A separate sleep room designed for this age group is on hand if children require a more peaceful room in which to sleep or rest.
